Sedation Dentistry
Sedation dentistry can provide relief to the many people who are uncomfortable with receiving dental care. The association of sights, sounds and smells of the dental office with prior negative dental experiences can keep people away who both want and need extensive, and even routine care. Difficulty getting numb, restlessnes, sleepless nights prior to appointments, fear and anxiety can all be effectively overcome with sedation dentistry.
Sedation dentistry allows you to have your dental needs met while you are in a relaxed state. You will not be unconscious, as in general anesthesia for hospital sugical procedures. Rather, you will be able to respond to questions, breath on your own, and retain all your normal protective reflexes. This state of conscious sedation will greatly reduce or completely eliminate anxiety, and you will have little to no memory of your dental visit, leaving you well rested and feeling better about your oral health.
If you are anxious because you need extensive treatment, sedation allows you to have multiple procedures completed in one appointment, reducing or eliminating the need for many return visits.
With sedation, we are also able to address the special needs of patients with Down's syndrome, Alzheimers, Parkinson's, and other conditions that sometimes make it difficult to access dental care.
